2019 Mediterranean Cruse Part 4
Santas on Bicycles and Heavy Weather
Because the weather caused high seas, we returned to the port in Rome a day early. We mostly stayed on the ship but did wander around on shore for a bit. That's where we ran into hundreds of Santas riding bicycles along the sea front. I discovered that this is a tradition in Rome.
"Father Christmases cycled from Piazza Venezia to Piazza Spagna, and in addition to helping the Peter Pan association, the aim of their cycle was to raise awareness of the safety of cyclists on the streets of the capital." We really lucked out to see them. Right place, right time.
